What happens if I get divorced?

If you get divorced, then you could be required to share your pension with your ex-spouse as part of a settlement. As part of this process, you may be asked to provide a Cash Equivalent Transfer Value.

  • If you’re going through a divorce or dissolution of partnership you may be asked to provide a Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) of your pension to a solicitor or law firm.
  • You can see the value of your retirement pot by logging in to your online account.
  • To request for a CETV, you’ll need to fill a form and send it back to Nest.
  • To download the form click ‘My Account’ at the top of the page.

  • Click ‘Edit profile’ from the dropdown list.

  • On the next page, click ‘Divorce and dissolution’.

  • You’ll be able to see what you should do next and which form you need to download and complete to let us know.
