Home > Enrolling your workers video transcript
Hello, I’m Tom and I work at NEST.
By now you’ve completed your initial assessments; your staging date has arrived, or your waiting period has ended; and there are two very important things you need to do next:
You have a legal duty to write to all your staff about their new pension rights, whether they qualify for automatic enrolment or not.
You can email or post this information to them, as long as you send it to a personal address or email account.
Find the templates we’ve created to make your life easier on our website.
You’ve got six weeks to enrol eligible jobholders in to NEST from your staging date, or from the end of your waiting period.
You can enrol them one of three ways:
through your online account
by sending a file through your online account
by sending a file using secure file transfer protocol.
You can find out more on our website.
When you enrol your workers you also need to tell us their enrolment type and their start date. Then we know whether they’ve been enrolled or opted in, and can understand what rights a worker has.
The start date is the day from which a worker is due contributions. This might be your staging date, or the day a worker joins your organisation.
We’ll then send your worker our welcome pack that tells them everything they need to know about being a member of NEST: from how and when to opt out, if they’re eligible to, to registering their online account.
They can then speak to us directly through their online account, which means less work for you. You can find out more on our website.
