How do I edit an existing worker’s group?

You can edit your existing group after you’ve set up NEST. There are a number of reasons why you may wish to edit your group. These include:

  • to make changes to workers’ payment frequency
  • to change a pay period start or end date
  • to change a payment due date.

You’ll need to take the following steps:

  • log in to your NEST online account
  • click ‘Manage groups’ from your NEST home page
  • click ‘Manage group’ on the group you’d like to edit
  • click ‘Edit group’.

The group settings that you can edit are:

  • group name
  • contribution level
  • earnings basis
  • contribution rates if the contribution level is Custom
  • maximum contribution rates.

The fixed settings that cannot be changed are:

  • payment frequency
  • payment due date
  • pay period start or end date.

If you need to change any fixed settings for a group then you’ll need to create a new group and move the members to the new group using a contribution schedule. For more information on creating a new group see How do I add a new group once I’ve set up with NEST?

To move the member’s to the new group through your NEST online account please see How do I change a member’s group by entering information for one member at a time into the website?

For more information on how to change a member’s group through file upload please see How do I change a member’s group using a CSV file?

Once you’ve moved your workers to the new group the old group will still show in the Manage groups area of your NEST home page. You’ll be able to delete the groups as long as there are no members attached to it. Please see How do I delete a worker group once I’ve set up with NEST? for more information.

Please avoid making changes to groups if your contributions are currently being processed.

When you edit an existing group we’ll ask you to provide a date by when you’d like your changes to take effect. Your changes will be accepted on the date you enter, but they won’t apply until the next earnings period start date. If you have higher rates of contributions that you wish to pay before the group changes, then you might want to include the extra payment in an exception schedule. For information on exception schedules please see How do I create an exception schedule?
