How can a member opt out?

A member can opt out of saving for their retirement with NEST in one of three ways:

  • they can call our telephone line and follow the automated instructions
  • they can opt out online using our website
  • or they call our Contact Centre directly and request a paper opt-out form. The member must personally request the form as no-one else can request an opt-out form on their behalf.

They’ll need to give us their NEST ID to opt out. A member’s NEST ID is in the welcome to NEST letter we send to the postal address you give us for them when you enrol them. A member should receive their welcome letter within three working days of being enrolled.

The auto enrolment law allows a member one month to opt out from saving for their retirement. This starts three days after you enrol them into NEST. If a member wants to opt out by post, once they’ve asked us for a form it can take up to five working days to reach them. We’ll only send a paper form if there’s enough time for them to complete and return it before the end of the member's opt-out period.

For more information for your member to opt out please see How do I opt out? in our Member help centre.
