What happens when my account is closed?

When will my account close?

  • Once you’ve submitted a retirement or transfer out request, you may have limited access to your account and only be able to use your Nest secure mailbox.
  • Your account will be closed once we've paid all your money into your bank account or transferred it to your other provider. 
  • If you've opted out of saving with Nest, we will close your account and any contributions made will be refunded to your employer within 10 working days of your request.

When will I receive the money in my bank account?

  • Once we’ve received all the required information to complete your retirement request, it could take 5-10 working days for the money to be paid into your bank account.

What happens to my documents?

  • You should download any documents that you may need in the future as soon as you submit your transfer or retirement request. This is because you may have limited access to the account before it’s closed. For example, you may want to save a copy of your annual statement if you’re likely to submit a tax return.
  • To view or download the documents please log in and click ‘Mailbox’.

How long will Nest hold my personal information after my account is closed?

  • We’ll keep your personal information for 15 years after your death or 150 years from your birth where we’ve not been notified of your death.
  • If you’ve sent us any identification documents, we’ll keep the copies for 15 years after your retirement or the transfer out request is completed.

What happens if Nest receives contributions after my account is closed?
