To make sure your files are sent and or collected securely, you’ll need a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program.
You’ll also have to be able to exchange information with us using the Secure Shell File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).
We’ve provided a step-by-step guide of the process below:
1. Click ‘Manage secure file transfer’ from your Welcome to NEST home page.
2. Click ‘I want to transfer files using SFTP’ under the section Secure Shell File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).
3. We’ll show you a confirmation message to say you’ve chosen SFTP.
4. We’ll process your request to use SFTP within 3-4 working days.
5. We’ll send an email to your mailbox giving you the details you’ll need to set up your secure file transfer. We’ll confirm your username, password, the SFTP server port and server address.
6. You’ll need to click the link to download the NEST secure key, which you’ll need in order to access the NEST File Gateway. It may help to right-click the link and save it to notepad or WordPad to see it. You may need this to complete the set up in your FTP program.
7. Generate your own public key which is required to connect to the NEST File Gateway and a private key that will identify your system to us.
8. Send an email to NEST at FileTransfer_Key@nestpensions.org.uk with your NEST ID and your public key.
9. We’ll set up your account on the NEST file gateway server within three working days and then send confirmation that the SFTP set-up is complete.
10. You’ll need to open a port in your firewall to allow SFTP communication and you’ll be able to log in to the NEST file gateway.
