How do I change my existing payment source to Direct Debit

To edit your payment source you’ll first have to make sure you have no outstanding payments on a contribution schedule connected to that payment source.

Once you’ve checked this, click ‘Manage payment sources’ from your NEST home page.

Click ‘Edit’ on the payment source you wish to change.

Click ‘Edit’ next to ‘Payment type’ and you’ll see the other payment options to choose from.

Select the option for Direct Debit and fill in your bank or building society details.

You’ll need to let us know if you have authority to set up the Direct Debit mandate.

If you have authority you’ll need to read the mandate information carefully and click ‘Yes, I’m an account holder for this account and I’m the only person who needs to authorise this mandate’.

If you don’t have authority you’ll need to ask the account holder to log in and authorise the mandate through their online NEST account. If they don’t have a NEST account you can add them as a delegate or change them to the primary contact so they can authorise it once they’ve logged into their account.

If more than one signature is needed to authorise the mandate you’ll need to print the Direct Debit mandate form and send it to us. You’ll need to send it to the address shown on-screen once it’s been completed by the authorised parties.

Next you'll be able to click ‘Print Direct Debit mandate form’ so you can have a hard copy for your records. We’ll also send a confirmation message to your secure NEST mailbox with the details attached. If you’re sending us the Direct Debit mandate forms by post there’s no need to correct or change any of the information on the mandate. If you do this it may void the mandate which could mean that we might not accept it.

Once the payment source has been changed it takes six working days for the mandate to become active.

If you need to send a paper mandate form to us, it’ll take five working days for us to process the paper work. We’ll process the Direct Debit with your bank or building society, who will then check the mandate. It’ll take six working days for the mandate to become active.
