What happens if I don’t include the payment reference with my payment?

If we receive a payment without the payment reference or an incorrect payment reference attached we’ll immediately refund the amount to the bank account it came from. This might not be the account you’ve specified to receive refunds so it’s a good idea to regularly check your NEST online account to see if the contribution schedule has moved to paid status or we’ve received payment for individual members. If the payment is returned to you, you can either make the payment again immediately or wait for the refund to clear in your bank account before making payment again using the correct payment reference.

Please note that if you submit payment without a payment reference or with an incorrect payment reference this could lead to a schedule becoming overdue and you may receive a late payment notice.
