Investment principles
The Statement of investment principles (SIP) sets out how Nest will invest members’ money.
It outlines the broad principles and policies that govern how Nest makes its investment decisions. It also demonstrates Nest’s commitment to managing its assets effectively and appropriately for all of its members.
The SIP outlines:
- how the investment governance processes of Nest work
- how Nest Retirement Date Funds work
- what other fund choices we offer
- Nest Corporation’s approach to responsible investing
- how assets are managed
- Nest Corporation’s approach to risk
Our member investment research report summarises a range of evidence about our members and their investment which influences the evolution of Nest’s investment strategy.
Policies and frameworks
There are a number of other policies and frameworks that Nest has developed to help us deliver our investment strategy and guide our decision making.
Nest’s Investment Beliefs
Nest Trustees have established a set of investment beliefs to provide an objective and transparent framework and assist effective internal decision making in a complex environment.
Order and rules
Nest’s order is the legal document that establishes the scheme and appoints Nest Corporation as the Trustee. This can only be amended by Parliament.
Freedom of Information Act
Nest Corporation is a public authority which means you can request information from us if you want to.

How Nest is run
As a public corporation we have no owners or shareholders. This means we’re free to run the scheme in the interests of our members.
