What is the responsible investment report?

Our responsible investment report showcases the work our investment team has done over the past year to give your pension a voice in driving positive change.

We release this report every year to highlight the progress we’ve made towards meeting our environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.

And wow – it's been another busy year for us at Nest. 

We’ve continued to manage ESG risks and engaged with some of the largest companies in the world to encourage positive change in their practices, including on climate change and human rights.

Why? 

Because we believe that to achieve the best returns for you all – our 13 million members – we must look to the future and do our part to address real world issues.

We want the companies and industries we invest in today to continue to make money for our members tomorrow. And we believe investing responsibly by being effective stewards is one of the best ways to do this.

That’s why responsible investment is at the heart of everything we do.

Key highlights for 2023/24:

• Nest launched the ‘Everyday Investor’ campaign, where we took some Nest members to different locations to show them firsthand where their pension was invested. First off, we set sail to the Lincs offshore windfarm, which is part-owned by you and millions of other Nest members, as one of the thousands of investments you hold! Check out some highlights from the trip.
• Nest continued to engage closely with the companies we invest in, including Amazon on its treatment of its workers, Anglian Water on recent pollution incidents, and Tesla on potential forced labour in its supply chain. 
• Alongside co-chairs of the 30% Club Investor Group, Nest led engagements with companies that needed to improve gender and ethnic diversity on their boards.
